The Lauchhammer art foundry has existed for almost 300 years. But it could soon be over. The company has filed for bankruptcy.

The Lauchhammer art foundry is insolvent. Due to a lack of demand, the insolvency proceedings have already been initiated, report the “Lausitzer Rundschau” and the RBB.

The company, founded in 1725, claims to be the oldest art foundry in Germany. There are currently 26 employees working there, but they are initially protected by the insolvency money. The insolvency administrator explained to the RBB that business operations will continue for the time being. In addition, constructive discussions have already been held. What exactly the future of the art foundry will look like is apparently not yet clear.

The company from Lusatia produced, among other things, the statue of Saint George in Berlin's Nikolaiviertel and the Frederick the Great statue on Unter den Linden Street.
