In Germany, the SUV rinsed the Van from the market at the latest. But in Asia, as a spacious alternative to the luxury sedan, he is still very popular. Five examples.

When Renault brought the Espace 40 years ago and Chrysler shortly before the Voyager, because space was suddenly chic again. While the VW Transporter increasingly stunted to the commercial load or otherwise only pointed out the way to adventure, the large -scale limousines of the new generation proved to be smart family carriages and replaced the station wagon as a classic pampers. Until at some point with a similar amount of space and variability, the SUV came and the space travelers swept off the market.

Sure, the VW Transporter is still available and of course a civil variant from almost all commercial panel vans at Stellantis or Renault, Ford or Mercedes. But they don't really have a lot of sex appeal and, accordingly, they are not successful.

In China it looks very different. There, no one associated the van with a van, but rather with a luxury sedan. Because when millions of people crowd into the metropolises, space becomes a real luxury. Even the Nobeliest S-Class loses its charm in hours of stop-and-go traffic if instead you can sneak through the city in your own board office, go long or even get up on the go-regardless of whether you want to work now, Sleep or just relax.

While we have now mutated into a SUV long -running favorite like the Renault Scenic to have a future, the streets in Far East are therefore flooded by futuristic spaceships, in addition to which even the first generation of the Espace looks dangerous after Stone Age. Only to Europe will they probably make it so quickly or at all. Five examples.

Liauto Mega: The Taycan for the Tycoon

He is even more spacier than the Renault Espace once, because even a Lamborghini looks inconspicuous against the Mega Liusto. But this is not an effect. The mega-van drawn by a former Porsche designer is larger than a VW bus, but has a lower CW value than a Taycan. And that pays off with the range.

The seven-seater from his 103 kW battery in this class brings unrivaled 710 kilometers. And then loads faster than any other car with up to 552 kW – if you find a suitable column. So that this works at least in China, Liauto puts on the new mega charger of simplicity for the sake of simplicity.

Ader Mega not only scores in the wind tunnel, on the long distance and on the charging station, but is also the hero of the backbench. Because in the second row it offers more space than an S -Class and even in the third row you sit more comfortably than in the five – of course in the long version. The matter has only two hooks: First, the mega in China costs at least 74,000 euros and secondly, he will probably never make it to Europe.

Denza D9: Greetings to Swabia

With your first car you were not lucky with Denza. Because the Mercedes B-Class converted for China in the joint venture with BYD was a veritable flop. But now the Chinese have the say in the brand and with the D9 a bestseller in the program.

No wonder: because 5.25 meters long, paved in the front with an illuminated pinstripe grill in Actros format and equipped with red LED lances at the back, he catches everyone's eyes in the nightlife of the metropolises. And above all, it offers comfort that even makes the noblest variants of the Mercedes V -Class look like a Swabian collecting taxi on the Alb – not to mention Multivan and Id.buzz. And at a prize in which the German Premium customer will show tears in the eye: because the D9 will be the equivalent of almost ridiculous 42,000 euros.

The Denza D9 is mainly made for China. But apparently BYD also sees a market for the luxury liner. The Denza D9 is mainly made for China. But apparently BYD also sees a market for the luxury liner.

There is nothing in the D9 that disturbs the calm and brings back to the bottom of the facts. Where the vans can hardly hide their proximity to the delivery van, the D9 is stiff and rock solid. Finally, it is on an electric skateboard platform of the BYD family, which give the so-called blade cells additional stability. And instead of the more or less well -insulated nailing of a diesel, you can only hear the whir of a stream, which pulls the spaceship with 312 hp in the front -wheel drive variant gently and velvety across the Silk Road.

A good 100 kWh in the D9 fits into the ground and the range is – admittedly in the Chinese cycle – with a good 600 kilometers one and a half times as large as with the electric V -Class. Of course, the D9 is mainly made for China. But apparently BYD also sees a market for the luxury liner. It is not for nothing that he has been going to European trade fairs for a year.

Zeekr 9 Grand: Grand with four

Even in the basic version, the Zeekr 009 is a giant with plenty of space. But if you really keep something in Hangzhou or Hefei, you order the 5.21 meter long thick ship for rather laughable 100,000 euros – and drive more comfortably than in any Rolls -Royce. Because instead of six there are only four seats and the huge back room at a 3.21 meter wheelbase fill two mighty captain chairs with lounge and massage function, folding tables and footrests.

Because the developers assume that you prefer to have your peace in this separee, there is a partition to the driver as standard and because the cinema in the head has a break after a stressful day, they screw a screen over the entire width of the vehicle in front of it, It is larger than in some living room. So that the film runs without interruption and you do not have to go to the charging station in between, there is a 140 kWh battery with almost 900 kilometers (Chinese) standard range.

Although the Grand was already seen outside of China at some trade fairs, the Geely subsidiary has a smaller and even smart van on offer with the mix that has better export prospects.

Volvo EM90: Chinese-Swedish large pack

Eyed up and huge SUV – Volvos have always been spacious. But since the Swedes belong to the Chinese Geely Group and are consistently built up to the electric premium brand, they flirt with the large-scale, with the EM90 now nails with heads and actually sell a van.

The electric space giant is not a new development. It is based on the Zeekr 009, from which he also takes over the drive. 5.21 meters long, illuminated with a 145 LED in countless scenarios and at over 3.20 meters of wheelbase in the rear with two huge Captain Chairs and a small bench, it drives with a battery in the Chinese cycle at best More than 800 kilometers. 544 hp let the pounds tumble and enable a travel speed of 190 km/h.

The EM90 is officially a purely Chinese project. But after Volvo has more than all the supposed luxury brands from the Middle Kingdom with us and above all a functioning dealer network, they could quickly be part of the party if the space drivers also take off again.

Voyah Dream: You will probably still be able to dream

The Voyah Dream should also come to Germany. The Voyah Dream should also come to Germany.

While Denza or Volvo cleverly operate the rumor mill and heat the speculation, Dongfeng makes nails with heads and has brought the Voyah Dream on the way. So far only to Switzerland or Norway, but a start has already been made and we should also start this year for prices north of 80,000 euros.

There is a six-man who is similar to an S-Class at 5.32 meters. Only that you can dance tango in the footwell here at 3.20 meters. Especially when the two throne chairs automatically slide back in the rear when opening the sliding doors and thus offer more legroom.

Although the dream car of the backbenchers wants to be the dream car, the driver also gets his money's worth. Firstly, he is hardly worse in the front row than the passengers behind it, secondly, he has the larger screen in front of his nose, which, with its three tablet-sized clusters PS and go to work with up to 620 Nm.

Hugging like an Airbus at the start, but the dream pushes as whimsical as an ICE as an ICE, accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and is only braked by the electronics at 200 km/h. It can then be the highway instead of just the bypass or the boulevard through the city. And so that it does not stay with short -haul routes, the Chinese screw a 108 kWh battery into the double floor and – in the somewhat lax local cycle – in the prospect of 482 kilometers. However, loading is rather slow afterwards: with 10 kW on the change and just 125 kW on the direct current.
