Back in May, Marius Müller-Westernhagen had to cancel a concert on his tour at short notice for health reasons. Now the 75-year-old singer is ill again and has bad news for his fans.

“Unfortunately, the sold-out concerts by Marius Müller-Westernhagen in the Sparkassenpark in Mönchengladbach and on the Coburg Schlossplatz have to be cancelled due to the artist's infection.” The singer's social media team announced this bad news yesterday on the 75-year-old's official Instagram account. The concert in Mönchengladbach would have taken place today, Tuesday. The performance in Coburg was planned for August 23. “The artist, management and organizers very much regret the cancellation and hope for the understanding of the fans,” the Instagram post says.

According to the organizer, the tickets remain valid until it is clear whether there will be alternative dates. However, they can also be returned to the ticket offices where they were purchased. Other concerts on the “75 Live” tour are “not affected by the cancellation and can probably take place as planned,” Müller-Westernhagen's team said.

The singer's fans reacted with disappointment, but mostly showed understanding. “Oh, what a pity, I had tickets for tomorrow. Health always comes first, get well soon and hopefully quickly,” “Get well soon MMW! I found out about it about an hour ago. It's a pity, the tickets for the concert were my birthday present. Now the party will just have to start on another day,” are two of many comments in which Müller-Westernhagen's followers react with understanding.

Anger over Stuttgart cancellation

In between, however, one or two comments can be found recalling the cancellation in Stuttgart in May. Back then, fans only found out shortly before the performance that the singer was ill. There was great anger at the time, as many had not only spent money on tickets, but also on hotel and travel costs. An alternative date was not offered. “Shit happens,” Müller-Westernhagen wrote about his infection on Instagram at the time.

At the end of last year, Westernhagen released a new album to mark his 75th birthday on December 6th. On “Westernhagen 75 (75 Songs / 1974 – 2023)” the singer presents one song from his 28 previous albums for each year of his life, in chronological order and at least one piece from each album. Marius Müller-Westernhagen's “75Live” tour then started in May.
