He was known from films like “Die Hard 2” and the horror comedy “Fright Night”: American actor Art Evans (1942-2024) has now died at the age of 82. As a spokesman for the actor told the US portal “Deadline”, Evans died on Saturday, December 21st of diabetes, “an illness that he bravely managed for many years.” Evans leaves behind his long-time wife Babe and their son Ogadae Evans.
In a statement about the actor's death, Evan's wife said: “Art was not only an incredible actor, but also a devoted husband, friend and a source of light to all who knew him.” And further: “We will miss his laughter, his passion and his love for life. Although our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the legacy of joy and inspiration that he leaves behind.”
Evan's agents LyNea Bell and Charleen McGuire also remembered the “Die Hard” actor as “a remarkable talent who touched many lives through his work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.” As the industry magazine “Variety” quoted Evan's wife Babe, “a memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date.”
In a career spanning more than 50 years, Evans appeared in more than 120 film and television productions. One of his most famous roles was that of Leslie Barnes, the employee in the air traffic control tower in “Die Hard 2”, alongside Hollywood star Bruce Willis. Evans also appeared alongside actor and director Denzel Washington in the 1984 war film “Sergeant Waters – A Soldier's Story”.
