Justin Bieber spends a lot of money on his performances. The Canadian pop star is said to have received a particularly high fee for a gig in India. The client is the richest man in Asia.

A good champagne, nice crockery, 200 euros or a household appliance – most people often don't have much more to offer when it comes to wedding gifts for a bride and groom. But what if you're the richest man in Asia and the ninth richest person in the world? Then it can be a little more. A Justin Bieber, for example.

Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani was not shy about flying the pop star to Mumbai for a pretty penny to kick off the wedding celebrations of his son Anant and his fiancée Radhika Merchant. According to Indian media reports, Bieber is said to have received up to ten million dollars for the performance.

Bieber shared a series of snaps of himself posing and chatting with the couple on the day of his performance.

In a video from the show, the singer, wearing a white jacket, black baggy pants and an upside-down baseball cap, holds up his microphone to the numerous guests as they sing along to his song “Love Yourself.”

Another clip that the 30-year-old posted shows him singing his hit “Where Are U Now.” In the footage, he again holds out his microphone to a fan. “Let's go, let's go!”, Bieber can be heard saying to the guest in the video.

He also shared footage of himself singing “I'm the One” to a group of delighted female guests, among other things, and a series of snaps show him behind the scenes at the event.

Justin Bieber is not the first

Anant is the youngest child of Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani, head of Reliance Industries. The company is active in various sectors from energy to textiles to telecommunications. According to Forbes, the 67-year-old company boss is the richest man in Asia with a fortune estimated at 123 billion dollars. The construction of the Ambanis' 27-story house in Mumbai is said to have cost more than a billion dollars. Forbes has already listed it as the most expensive property in the world. In comparison, the fee that Bieber is said to have received for his appearance is peanuts.

The Ambani family has been preparing for the July 12 wedding for months. In March, Rihanna was reportedly paid $6 million to perform for the couple at a celebration also attended by Bill Gates, Ivanka Trump and Mark Zuckerberg. And in May, the Ambanis invited their relatives on a three-day cruise from Italy to France that reportedly featured performances by Katy Perry, Pitbull and David Guetta.

The Ambani family has apparently already gained experience hosting big stars. In 2018, according to media reports, Mukesh Ambani hosted a mega wedding for his daughter Isha, which was rumored to have cost around $100 million. Beyoncé performed at the time – but how much the billionaire paid for the pop star was kept top secret.
