The Mabuse sisters have a two-pronged approach. “Let's Dance” juror Motsi Mabuse is not only known in Germany, but also in Great Britain. Her sister Oti also enjoys greater popularity here. Maybe even more so now that she's moving from the dance floor to the jungle camp.
This news should not only make “Let's Dance” fans sit up and take notice: Oti Mabuse is a candidate in the new season of “I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!”, the British version of the jungle camp. The 34-year-old is the younger sister of “Let’s Dance” juror Motsi Mabuse.
The show that's like “I'm a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!” which is being filmed in Australia, starts next Sunday. But only now has the broadcaster ITV announced the final cast of what is now the 24th edition of the format.
Like her sister, Oti Mabuse is a professional dancer. In 2015 and 2016 she took part in “Let’s Dance”. In the first year she even made it to sixth place with the now deceased “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” celebrity Daniel Küblböck. The following year she danced alongside presenter Niels Ruf. She also floated across the floor several times on the British version of the show called “Strictly Come Dancing”. She is now active as a judge on “Dancing on Ice”.
“I'll cry at camp too”
“When you work as a judge, you watch a nice show, eat a Sunday roast and then go home. This will be 100 times harder and I definitely think I'll cry in the camp too,” the broadcaster quoted Oti Mabuse. She is generally very emotional: “We will see a lot of tears from me.” She is especially afraid of snakes.
But the dancer, who became a mother for the first time last year, says she is also looking for some relaxation in the jungle camp. “Now that I have my little daughter, I want to be the adventurous and happy Oti again. I feel ready for a change and want to do something completely different,” said Oti Mabuse. She is also looking forward to being able to relax without “make-up, concealer and false eyelashes”.
Also Coleen Rooney there
In addition to Oti Mabuse, Coleen Rooney's name in the show's cast is also attracting attention. According to The Independent, the wife of former football star Wayne Rooney will receive the highest salary of any celebrity ever. Accordingly, she receives 1.5 million pounds (around 1.8 million euros) for possibly being covered in maggots and eating kangaroo testicles.
In an interview with ITV, Coleen Rooney emphasizes that she has already been asked for the format several times. “There have been other things in my life over the years, and besides, my children were very young. But now they are at an age where I can stay away for that time. I also feel like it's time for one challenge for me and I want to do something new,” she explains. Her husband supported her participation.
The other participants shouldn't necessarily mean anything to the German fans: They include pop singer Tulisa Contostavlos, “Coronation Street” actor Alan Halsall, radio DJ and presenter Melvin O'Doom and former boxer Barry McGuigan. Also there are Dean McCullough, also a radio DJ, the “Loose Women” presenters Jane Moore and GK Barry and Danny Jones, lead singer of the pop-rock band McFly.
