The music for which he was responsible will certainly continue to blare loudly from many speakers for a long time to come. The farewell to him, on the other hand, is rather quiet: producer legend Quincy Jones was buried in an intimate ceremony.
Quincy Jones was buried in Los Angeles a week after his death. Only his seven children, his brother, two sisters and immediate family members took part in the private funeral service, reports the Associated Press news agency. It is not known which cemetery the ceremony took place in.
However, a public memorial service for the music giant's death is also planned, it is said. Details should be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, Jones' family said they were “tremendously grateful for the outpouring of condolences and tributes from his friends and fans around the world.”
He was 91
The music producer, composer and 28-time Grammy award winner died on November 3rd at the age of 91 surrounded by his family in Los Angeles. In a career spanning seven decades, Jones enjoyed impressive success. Among other things, he produced Michael Jackson's “Thriller” album – making it the most successful album of all time. He also worked with greats such as Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder.
After Jones' death, numerous stars expressed their condolences on social networks. These included Lionel Richie, Elton John, Dr. Dre, Lenny Kravitz, Kelly Rowland, Will Smith and David Guetta. The late-night show “Saturday Night Live,” which Jones hosted in 1990, also honored him the night before his funeral with a memorial photo at the end of the show.
