Bebe Rexha had tears rolling down her cheeks as she addressed her fans in an Instagram story at the weekend. The reason for her upset was an incident she had just experienced at Munich Airport, the 34-year-old told her 11.9 million followers. She had been “threatened” and “psychologically abused” by the supervisor for a Lufthansa flight because she was Albanian, explained the US singer with Albanian roots.
“I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian,” Rexha explained, adding: “I spoke to him in Albanian and asked where I could get my ticket and now he is banning me from the flight.”
Rexha did not provide any further details about the alleged incident. However, she said she believes the incident was a “hate crime” because of her ethnic background. The male airport employee refused to give his name. He “psychologically abused” her without the female staff intervening.
Lufthansa has contacted Bebe Rexha
Lufthansa responded to the accusation shortly afterwards. The German airline said it was trying to “understand the situation” and would not tolerate “discriminatory behavior of any kind.” A spokesperson continued: “We have contacted Bebe Rexha and are in direct contact with her to clarify the situation.”
