After 20 years there is a reunion of the original line-up of Black Sabbath: Ozzy Osbourne will perform with the band in her hometown Birmingham one last time despite his Parkinson's disease. In addition, numerous guest stars from the metal scene are on stage for a good cause.

The “Prince of Darkness” is planning a worthy farewell to the stage: Ozzy Osbourne has announced its last concert. As the 76-year-old announced on the official Instagram page of his band Black Sabbath, he will appear a final time in his hometown Birmingham on July 5. The event entitled “Back to The Beginning” in the Football Stadium Villa Park is already considered a “largest heavy metal show ever”.

For the concert, the original line-up of Black Sabbath comes together for the first time in 20 years. In addition to Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill were on stage. The 76-year-old Osbourne, who made his Parkinson's disease public in 2020, will first play a solo set before the reunion takes place.

The list of guest stars reads like the “Who is who” of the metal scene: Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains and many other bands will appear. Musicians of famous bands such as Slash (Guns N 'Roses), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Jonathan Davis (Korn), David Draiman (Disturbed) or Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit) have their individual participation promised. “Birmingham is the real home of the metal,” said Osbourne. “How blessed am I that I can do that with the help of people I love.”

Concert for a good cause

The income of the concert goes equally to the organizations of Cure Parkinson's, the Birmingham Children's Hospital and the Acorn Children's Hospice. Tom Morello, guitarist of Rage Against The Machine and musical director of the show, described the event as “largest heavy metal show ever”, which apparently is right.

Despite his Parkinson's disease, Osbourne is combative. “The only thing that reminds me that I get older are the things that no longer work,” he said “The Sun” 2022. “But I still feel young in my heart.” He was determined to be on stage again, “even if I have to nail and roll into a board”. The pre -sale for the concert starts on February 14th at 10 a.m. British.
