According to Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II died of natural causes in 2022. Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson contradicts this in his memoirs. He claims that the Queen died of cancer.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will publish his memoirs “Unleashed” on October 22nd. In the book, among other things, he passes on his alleged insider knowledge about the health of the late British Queen Elizabeth II. Johnson wants to know the true cause of the Queen's death and claims that the 96-year-old died as a result of cancer. The politician thus contradicts the information from Buckingham Palace, which spoke of a “natural death” in 2022.

According to Newsweek, Johnson specifically names “bone cancer” as the cause of death in his book. The Queen is also said to have known before her death that she would not survive the summer.

In an excerpt from his memoirs published in the Mail on Sunday, Johnson also describes the last time he saw the Queen alive. “I had known for more than a year that she had some form of bone cancer, and her doctors were concerned that she could go into decline at any time. She lost quite a bit of weight over the summer,” Johnson said.

Queen is said to have known that she was dying

The politician also recounts the supposedly subsequent conversation with Elizabeth in his book: “'Good morning, Prime Minister,' she said, and as we sat down on the green-blue sofas opposite, I could immediately see what Edward meant. She looked pale and hunched over, and she had dark bruises on her hands and wrists, probably from IVs or injections.” However, her mind was “completely unimpaired” by her illness. The Queen's famous smile also flashed again and again during the conversation.

“As Edward Young later explained to me,” Johnson continued, “she knew all summer that she was leaving, but was determined to persevere and fulfill her final duty: overseeing the peaceful and orderly transition from one administration to the next – and, I suspect, adding another outgoing Prime Minister to their record-breaking list.”

Cancer in the Royal Family

The Conservative Party politician is not the first to publicly claim that the Queen had cancer; a royal historian had also put forward this theory in a book. “I heard that the Queen had a form of myeloma, a bone marrow cancer,” writes British royal expert Gyles Brandreth in his biography.

Buckingham Palace has not yet responded to Johnson's claim. Even during Queen Elizabeth II's lifetime, it was generally not customary to disclose information about the health of members of the royal family to the public. King Charles III broke this rule. At the beginning of the year he decided to be open about his cancer. Princess Kate also announced that she had cancer after her abdominal surgery.

How credible Boris Johnson's claim is remains questionable. As the Daily Mail reported from the memoirs a few days ago, Johnson also claims that he was asked in January 2020 to stop Prince Harry from resigning from his royal duties and moving to the USA.
